Disability and The Vampyre
As someone who has experienced disability first-hand, I am passionate about exploring the intersection of disability and vampirism in literature, entertainment and in the real world. Through my current work on several book chapters (coming soon), I am using Cultural Evolution, Historical Ontology, and Cultural Transmission to examine how attitudes towards disability may have been misinterpreted as vampirism.
The goal is to promote understanding and break down barriers in social discourse relating to disability studies and real world policy.
Disgusting Transmissions Framework
Disgusting Transmissions has undertaken several projects to help highlight the often-ignored cultural implications of the Victorian freak show. Our work seeks to expose how these outdated practices have impacted the way we view disabled individuals in our society today. Check out some of our most recent projects and learn how you can take part in creating a more inclusive world.
